Cycling at Warner Springs Ranch

Road cyclists and mountain bikers both enjoy great riding opportunities in the area surrounding Warner Springs Ranch (Ranch elevation 3100 feet above sea level). Road cyclists looking for a challenging ride can tackle the formidable climb to the summit of Mount Palomar (elevation 5500 feet) on East Grade Road, which is a round trip of 50 miles from the ranch.

A more leisurely ride option is the 25-mile round trip ride to Ranchita on Montezuma Highway. Total elevation gain on the ride to Ranchita is 1000 feet and the return to the ranch is a gradual downhill roll with big sweeping corners and great views of the valley.

The Warner Springs Ranch recreational opportunites have recently expanded to include several brand new Specialized Hard Rock mountain bikes available for rent. Riding options at the Ranch include an easy spin around the resort, a moderate 2 mile loop around the golf course or, for the more adventurous, several miles of single track trails in the cattle pasture southwest of the Ranch golf course.

Bike rentals include helmet, riding gloves and an optional mini-backpack. Rentals range from $25 for a full day down to $15 for half day rentals. The bike rental area also sells mountain bike tubes, anti-puncture sealant (Slime) and is equipped to do minor repairs/adjustments and tire inflation. The bikes are available at the Tennis/Fitness office adjacent to the lower pools.
